The Opinel Le Petit Chef set includes a knife, a peeler and a finger guard. Mandatory equipment for real little Masterchefs! With Opinel, children can cook and carefree cut and chop fruits, vegetables... The ring on the knife helps them put their fingers in a position where the fingers are protected, while the finger guard protects the fingers on the other hand that hold the food. The peeler also has a ring for the finger and with this the little fingers are in a position to be protected.

Children's knife

The blade is made of stainless steel X50CrMoV15, hardness 55-57 HRC, which is resistant to corrosion. The handle is made of beech wood (they use domestic wood, as beech from French forests is particularly strong). The handle is designed to "fit" in the hand. The ring between the blade and the handle is intended for the index finger and in this position the fingers are protected. The length of the blade is 10 cm!

Peeler for vegetables, fruits

Handy peeler for carrots, potatoes, apples... fits perfectly in the hand. The handle is made of beech wood (they use local wood, as beech from the French forests is particularly strong). The ring between the blade and the handle is intended for the index finger and in this position peeling is easier and the fingers are protected.

Finger protection

The plastic finger guard offers great protection for children's fingers, so children can fully focus on the cutting technique. Despite the protection on the hand, the protective fingers are mobile enough for the child to hold food.

Stainless steel X50CrMoV15, hardness 55-57 HRC, used by Opinel is of high quality. It boasts high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The blade offers sharpness and high resistance to abrasion (wear). It can also be used to cut hard materials, but then it needs to be sharpened again. The advantage of stainless steel is that it does not require special maintenance under normal conditions of use, unlike carbon steel. However, it can reach its limits when it is in prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent...).
